Sri Divakaruni

VP - Business Development

Sri is an Entrepreneur in Residence at University of Connecticut where he serves on the Advisory Board of several startups. Previously he was a Senior Director and Founding member, Innovation Business Development (IBD) at United Technologies Corporation where his team was responsible for monetizing UTC’s Intellectual Property and defining new growth opportunities. Sri and his team engaged with CXOs across industries, VCs and Private Equity to negotiate > $350 million in signings of IP licensing and R&D partnerships over a six year period. 

 

Prior to joining UTC, Sri spent 24 years with IBM in executive and technical management roles across the company’s hardware, software and services businesses and with IBM Research. His last four years at IBM were with IBM’s Corporate technology & IP licensing team, which generates over a billion dollars of IP income annually. He led the Aerospace & Defense practice for IBM’s Global Engineering Services team, prior to which he was responsible for advanced technology development in IBM Microelectronics. 

 

An inventor with several patents, Sri has been an invited speaker and panelist on a wide range of topics including IP monetization strategies and impact of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain on supply chains. Sri has a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer, New York and a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He also holds a “Major Deal Maker” certification from UPenn’s Wharton School of Business. In his leisure time, Sri enjoys travel, reading non-fiction, playing golf, tennis and other active outdoor activities.
